This perfect Frozen milestone birthday party was such a special occasion! Big sis “Elsa” was turning FIVE and her little sister “Anna” was turning ONE. While we had just done a portrait session back in May, Mum was keen to capture the girls’ milestones and wanted to take a few birthday portraits. Children change so very fast at this age it never ceases to amaze me. The party was at a beautiful location overlooking the harbour in Pyrmont, and we were so lucky that the rain stopped for an hour so the sun could peak through. Little Queen Elsa could hardly contain her excitement as she twirled round and round in the sunlight. I think there is very little as exciting as a birthday when you are turning five. And little princess Anna – oh my! She is a complete doll and a natural in front of the camera. We breezed through the portraits, and I stayed around to capture a few memories of their amazing Frozen party. Even though the rain returned, inside was full of magic, singing and birthday wishes. I know big sis will forever remember her party – and she’ll be able to tell her little sister all about it when they look at their photos. Birthdays are amazing occasions and I was so happy to capture this one for their parents. Happy Birthday sweethearts!
It is Frozen, Frozen, Frozen around here lately and this gorgeous girl’s fourth birthday party was no exception! Both Queen Elsa and Princess Anna were able to make it and delighted boys, girls, mums and dads with their games, singing and dancing. Surrounded by all her admiring friends, the birthday girl sang and danced her heart out. While it bucketed rain outside, inside was a stunning sea of sparkling white and blue. Mum and Dad had certainly put together quite a party and everyone was so happy to be there and celebrate. You can feel the spirit of Frozen that was at the party in these fun images! I hope the birthday girl had a fabulous time and her party was exactly what she wished for in her dreams.
This afternoon my daughter agreed to “posing” for the camera on the way to the shops. We took the long way around the harbour as I was keen to try a new location and catch some of that magical golden hour light right before sunset. My children don’t mind the camera, but “posing” is another story. Instead of striking a pose, we hunted for rocks to toss in the sea, ran up and down the steps of the wharf and twirled to a four year old rendition of “LET IT GO!” (sung just like that of course!) They’ve definitely trained me to be quick on my feet and nimble with my fingers – and to love the challenge of shooting moving kids. The sun finally set as we watched the ferries carrying commuters pass us by in the distance. The light faded and we were on our way to the grocery store. Perfect afternoon – only in Sydney.
Childhood friendships. Unbridled delight, joy and happiness at spending time together doing anything and nothing. Winter city light is magical. The setting sun, winter temps and city commuters didn’t stop these girls from playing in the neighbourhood square one evening. Such joy!
I love birthday parties. What is more iconic than a child’s party to represent the magic of childhood? Miss Sydney was a beautiful princess in a beautiful spot. And you can view a little video I made for her mum right here. Happy Birthday Sydney!
