I know you have tons of photos with the kids and their grandparents.  But how many do you have of all of you with the grandparents in the frame?  Probably not too many.  And just think how important it is for your kids to see their whole family smiling down at them everyday?  Our family portrait hangs in our lounge.  It is the largest piece of art in the room and my kids adore it.  So I just LOVE when a family wants to include the grandparents in their Sydney family photoshoot. 

Over the winter I held a morning of Sydney Icon sessions.  In July, the iconic Sydney Opera House was the most beautiful location. I love shooting at the Opera House in the early morning.  I’ll let you in on a little secret – if you get there before 9am you pretty much have the place to yourself!  This gorgeous family booked in much to my delight!  They were visiting from the UK for two weeks and wanted a session with the children’s grandparents as well.  As this session was in July, it was quite cold out, but they all rugged up and met me at the Opera House at 8am.   The light is stunning at that time of day, and mum kept saying how she missed the Sydney blue skies in the UK.  We totally got that Sydney picture-perfect weather.   

 

The kids were born in Sydney but don’t really remember it. Capturing family moments at this icon will ground their family’s history.  How special will it be for the kids to have these memories in a decade or two?  And an added bonus is that Dad and Mum are architects and Dad and worked on the Opera House at one point – how cool is that? A picture says a 1000 words – cliche but oh so true. 

Choosing what to wear at your session doesn’t have to be stressful  As long as you have a common colour like blue, it usually all works out!  This family’s wardrobe was limited due to travelling but they still look great.  It even warmed up enough to shed those jumpers.
