I recently joined a blog circle with some very talented photographers I’ve met through a series of classes. The idea is to post five photos on the 5th of the month from what we’ve been working on in the month before. I take a photograph or two – or sometimes more – everyday for fun, to learn, or just to document our daily life. Some days are less exciting than others but when I go to look back at the photos from that day I always see something extraordinary in those routines, play times, meal times and bedtimes. We are big into celebrations in our house. Valentine’s Day is no exception even though kids don’t really celebrate it here in Australia. I grew up with the typical American Valentine’s Day party at school and the excitement of trading those little cards and getting lots of chocolate. While I can’t pass down the tradition of a class party to my kids, I can give a them a reason to celebrate family, love and February. This year we did a mini countdown calendar and here are a few captures from February.
An early morning princess asks to make Valentine’s cupcakes
What would Valentine’s Day be without a little primping?
Craft time. Paint…it always seems like a good idea.
Decorating together… on the floor because that’s where the best light is in the afternoon
A Valentine’s bath… perfect way to end our February days
